• Dr. Bhalchandra Smriti Drishti Day week is organized from 10th to 16th June 2017. 
• Since 1976, National Blindness Control Program has been implemented independently to eliminate blindness in India. 
• Dr. 10th June every year under the National Blindness Control Programme. Bhalchandra Smriti is celebrated as Drishti Day. 
• Dr. Ramachandra Laxman Bhalchandra was born on 10 June 1926. He was a renowned eye surgeon. 
• He performed over 10,000 successful cataract surgeries during his tenure. 
• He died on 10 June 1979. In honor of the work done by him, 10th June is the day of Dr. Bhalchandra Smriti is celebrated as Drishti Day.
