  1. Your post is extremely misleading and does not represent the view and practice of optometrists globally. The training and qualifications of optometrists vary from country to country.

For instance, in the US, Canada, and Australia, to become a Doctor of Optometry, one must have a first degree in science-related courses (3 to 4 years), before studying Optometry for another 4 years to earn the Doctor of Optometry Degree (OD), all together 7 to 8 years.

While in the UK (Aston University), Nigeria, Ghana, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Cameroon, the OD degree is awarded after studying for 6 to 7 years of continuous learning. Plus, Optometrists can examine patients, refract, diagnose, prescribe drugs, use therapeutic agents, and carry-out scientific research.

Yes, Optometrists can use Doctorate (Dr.) title in these countries, and they are not paramedics.

Unfortunately, India does not offer the Doctor of Optometry degree program, and their academic system is yet to advance to modern-day optometry. Therefore, I advice you to take-down your faulty article or restrict your post to only the indian community.

Don't repeat such mistake, in order not to mislead the genera public!
